Even the Blu-ray Disc Association refers to the UV-curable resin Hard-coat =
technology as providing "moderate scratch-resistance.=E2=80=9D They say th=
at "you will be able to obtain a secure feeling comparable to that of DVDs =
by the conventional Hard-coat, from a viewpoint of scratch-resistance.=E2=
=80=9D (source: White Paper Blu-ray Disc Format, 5th edition, January 201=
8).
The fact that you can=E2=80=99t see microscopic scratches with your naked e=
ye doesn=E2=80=99t mean they aren=E2=80=99t there. Fortunately, the format=
includes pretty robust ED&C to deal with such scratches as well as fingerp=
rints and other surface contaminants.
