Actually, EAC has had several updates in the past year or so. The current
version (1.6) can rip and compress to 2 different formats in one run, it
can use the Musicbrainz CD database in addition to the gnudb database
(which picks up where the defunct freedb left off), and also works with a
commercial database service GD3. The use of AccurateRip and CDTools means
that you can rip most CDs (in good condition) using a faster mode and still
be assured of error-free results. And so on...
If you really haven't updated or checked out EAC "in years", you're
probably running a very old version, and the new groups.io mailing list
might actually be interesting to you.
