audio dropping ecasound v2.9.0

on Debian 7, I have audio dropping completely when running in interactive
mode:
ecasound  -c -f:f32_le,2,96000 -a:1 -i:/mnt/ramdisk/drums/nav_drums2.wav -o
jack,system  -ea:100 -km:1,0,100,0,1 -Md:alsaseq,midcontroller -a:2
-i:/mnt/ramdisk/bass/nav_bass.wav -o jack,system  -ea:100 -km:1,0,100,1,1
-Md:alsaseq,midcontroller -a:3 -i:/mnt/ramdisk/keys/keys.ewf -o
jack,system  -ea:100 -km:1,0,100,2,1 -Md:alsaseq,midcontroller -a:4
-i:/mnt/ramdisk/guitar/guitar_intro.wav -o:jack,system -ea:100
-km:1,0,100,3,1 -Md:alsaseq,midcontroller -a:5,6,7 -i:jack,system:capture_3
-a:5 -o:jack,system -ea:100 -km:1,0,100,4,1 -Md:alsaseq,midcontroller -a:6
-o:/mnt/ramdisk/guitar/guitar_main.wav -a:7 -o:guitar/guitar_main.wav
-ea:100

the transport seems to continue running.  When I type 'stop', then 'start',
audio picks back up again.

suggestions are greatly appreciated.
