Recording into ecasound

Its my first attempt recording into ecasound

the following command:

ecasound -c -b:512 -f:16,2,44100 \
                 -n:VocalTest \
                 -a:1 -i alsahw,1,0 -chcopy:1,2 -o alsa



I can here my voice through the mic.

The next command:

ecasound -c -b:512 -f:16,2,44100 \
                 -n:VocalTest \
                 -a:1 -i alsahw,1,0 -chcopy:1,2 -o voctest.wav

records to a file but of course I can't here myself through the monitor so
naturally I put the two together and
I used:

ecasound -c -b:512 -f:16,2,44100 \
                 -n:VocalTest \
                 -a:1 -i alsahw,1,0 -chcopy:1,2 -o alsa \
                 -a:2 -i alsahw,1,0 -chcopy:1,2 -o voctest.wav


but ecasound says : ERROR .... "Audio object "  " does not match an of the
know audio device types or file formats.....

Why does this work?
