Don't know about a good Zither, but on Freesound there's a beautiful  
Santoor.

There's a "beat-up" Zither there too, but I don't think that is what  
you are looking for ;-)

On the "Early Patches" from Dausenkunz there are some interesting  
plucked string instruments, like Cister, Hackbrett, Psalter... I have  
no idea if this CDROM is still available.

Well, why? Plucked string instruments are much easier than bowed  
string or wind instruments.
