I drilled holes in the top of each rock (the top being where ever I determined it would be) and then strung fishing line through them. I then ran a laundry line across my studio connected to some pipes on each side of the room. I struck the slates with a rubber mallet, the stick end of the mallet as well as the flesh of my hand in different areas of the slate rocks which produces different colors. I have a pile of 15 of these things sitting in my basement of all different sizes (I ended up using 7 of them for this set). I'd like to do another sampling of them some day with a slightly different approach when I have time. I'm happy you like them!
