While having to make money might've been one (very valid) point, perhaps
even the main point, it wasn't the only one, though. Another point has been
the fact that very rarely folks even came up with a "thank you, Steve". They
were just loading the sounds and that was about it. And IMO there's been
some really excellent patches which defenitely deserved more than simply
running away with them. I still use quite some of those patches on a
regularly base.

Hmmm...
I was thinking of doing a Radiohead style pay what you want thing for a 50's - 60's vintage BBC sound effects library after I put it into EXS instrument format from vinyl, presuming that licensing and copyright issues can be dealt with. It's a ton of work but it'd be fun.
Am I crazy or is it a good idea? I'm doing it more out of a sense of altruism and preservation of the content than anything else but if any one wanted to give me a few bucks I'd take it.
Any advice would be well appreciated.
