M$ bashing, while enjoyable sport, is not very relevant to the current
developments. I find it odd that you are dubious about the "integrity" of
Intel's parts. While their marketing has led the architecture by the nose
for some years and some recent chips (eg Prescott) have run very hot (for
the same reasons the latest G5s are noisy) they run code as expected. Most
of the world's business and communications runs on x86 and has done for
quite a while. If you run binaries - Unix, Linux, Win32 or 64 - the
processor spits out the expected results.  As the presentation said - all
the versions of OSX for the last five years have been compiled to run on
Intel. This is not surprising given that the Unix base on which OSX is
built is native to Intel.
