Hi Evan-could you list your Mac type,os and the like.I can tell you I'm on a G5,OSX 10.4.10 
with PT 7.3.x with LP 8.01,and have no problems.Are you on an Intel?Check some past 
posts here,some people have given combinations(OS,mac type etc)that are working.
