I gave up on DTDM a couple of years ago by sending a number of Core Audio channels into my digital mixer and returning them through channels of Pro Tools. Then I turned off DTDM in Logic. ALL my DAE/DTDM issues dissapeared PERMANENTLY at that time. (And I gained more Psuedo-DAE/DTDM I/O's). Lately, I have found myself preferring to use only Core Audio. I'm finding it actually sounds as good as DAE, if not smoother & better.
