Hate to tell you that this isn't a solution either.

I have been using a Hammerfall card with adat pipes into my 96 i/o  
for the last few years and it is not really good enough. As a  
workaround I play timing sensitive stuff on the native tracks, so  
that it is in time with the VIs i.e. stylus, EXS, et al.

I did also try a firewire solution and it was even worse in  
comparison. the box iss called profire lightbridge, by m-audio.
