HI - hope someone can help me out here - i have had Logic working great
with DTDM and DAE running for year on my G5 dual 2.7 and a PT accel 2
through a 192 interface and then, suddenly it's all started to unhinge
itself, culminating in the loss of a day's work (both embarrassing and
leading to a loss of time) and now the program won't even boot at all.
It all started as soon as i updated to Logic pro 8 (BIG BIG mistake it seems
to me) where i then had to update the protools from 7.1 to 7.4 (another 150
quid, thanks digidesign) to get the core audio working, and then after a
couple of crash free weeks the beach ball of death started creeping in when
i pressed either the play or the record buttons.
Usually a swift reboot would do the trick, but then the whole system froze
which has not happened for literally years as tiger is usually so stable!
Then, the project i was working on would't stay open for any length of time,
but other projects did, but gradually nothing at all would work at all.
Tried utilities, fixing disk from dvd (minor problem detected) repairing
permissions and having a cleanup with onyx, but nothing, nada niet.
On booting, it always hangs at the "starting loop browser" - wtf? i don't
even know what it is!!

I'm currently reinstalling logic 8 to see if that helps, but can anyone help
me with this please??? what's the score with compatibility here? Best OS?
(i'm not going to leopard as i hear it's even worse!) Best DIgi drivers? (
i'm on pT7.4) best version of logic? I'm on 8.01

cheers,
Russ Pay, the cd clinic
