If the difference is that you can audition mono but not stereo,
then it's because DAE still to this day doesn't support stereo
files (Digidesign achieves by just using dual mono files, which 
nobody else I can think of on the planet requires. This is curious,
since it's Digidesign who came out with the first stereo file back
format in the late 1980's with SD2.  But I digress).

The solution is to change the audition path.  Go to the Audio
Window and change the DEV from DAE to DTDM.  There
is a semi-recurring bug where sometimes when you change 
this, it changes back invisibly, so you'll have to close the window
and re-open again to change it to DTDM again.

Also, you might have to close and re-open the Loop Browser
to wake it up to the fact that the audition path is now DTDM.
