I wrote this back when Version 7 came out (see below). After the initial "whole number" version, apple will fix the problem. Then it comes back next big upgrade. I also just discovered that you can even have the 1st tempo event be a NEGATIVE bar number (by entering one in the Song Synchronization settings) , but it can be no later than position 1 1 1 1. Which still doesn't help. My old post: For years, I have started new tracks on Bar 9. For picture locking reasons I would have one tempo event in the tempo list set at Bar 9 and SMPTE Position 01:00:00.00. I would then lock my Quicktime picture to start at 01:00:00.00 also. Now I can adjust the tempo at bar 9 and the picture would still start at the same point but count-ins, 2 pops and what ever, would be readjusted. Of course it could be bar 5, or in some cases, for instance, where there's an eighth note pickup, you would do: 8 4 3 1 Tempo 130.000 at 01:00:00:00. Now in Logic 7, whenever I change this value in the tempo list, it forces that event to be at Bar 1. This throws everything off, since now, if you change the tempo at bar 1, bar 9 will come later or earlier. It takes a LOT of fiddling around to make Logic do this once, very elegant maneuver. It must be an oversight or a simple value input bug. It only does this in the Tempo List window, not if I change the tempo in the arrange window. If there's a workaround, or any way Apple can UN-do this simple alteration it would be awesome and save a lot of time.
