chord generation

Hello everyone. I am a new member. 

Is there any way I can type in chords like "Am", "G7", "Bb6" and have that generate midi chords? I am trying to rough out some arrangements, and its much faster to type in the chords by name, rather than play them on the keyboard. 

Or is there another program that will do that?
