No Overlap is default setting?

Hi,

I don't know if I just can't find where to change this preference/setting or if this a bug.
Logic always defaults to "No Overlap" in the drag menu in any song I open.
The manual says the default is "Overlap" which is what I need about 
99% of the time.
Using Logic 9.1.1 and Mac OS 10.6.5.
Any advice on how to fix this?
