M-audio firewire solo

Just wondering if anyon has experience with this.
Mac OS 10.5.8
G5 PPC (none intel) 2.5 Mghz
Logic 8.0.0

M-Audio Driver 1.4 from FireWire_OSX_1_9_3.dmg archive

When I connect the Solo with no driver, the in's and out's ARE selectable but there's no out put from either the solo or line outs. (didn't try inputs)
Install driver and then I get the error "The previously selected interface is not available." And the Solo in's and out's are not available/selectable.
