Best is pretty subjective. But I use the Mackie Onyx 1640i, which a 16 channel analogue mixer with a 16 x 16 firewire interface. So you not only have a really amazing I/O system, but you can mix on the board using all sixteen channels.
They aren't cheap, but they aren't expensive, either. And the preamps are very clean. I highly recommend this unit.
