Slow Logic with Movie file

I'm working on a 40 minute movie and Logic is Crawling. Takes 3-5 seconds to respond to repositioning of the SPL, or automation, etc. The movie file is 1.4 GB. I've done many 5-10 minute projects with video, never had this kind of slug fest. The CPU and HD reading in logic is barely showing, but activity monitor Utility shows typically 175% to 230% CPU in use for Logic when I run the session. Is it the size of the m4v that's doing this? Do I need to get a lower res copy of the movie file? It was edited in Final Cut, what should I ask for?
