I've done many 5-10 minute projects with video, never had this kind of slug fest. The CPU and HD reading in logic is barely showing, but activity monitor Utility shows typically 175% to 230% CPU in use for Logic when I run the session. Is it the size of the m4v that's doing this? Do I need to get a lower res copy of the movie file? It was edited in Final Cut, what should I ask for?

uh, yea, that;'s asking the computer to do allot. The data amount it's trying to stream would be about 3 and a half meg a second... most drives would choke...

Try this: make the movie about 1/4th the size as DV... this will keep the disc speed reasonable, and keep cpu power needed to a small amount.

All that said, I wouldn't expect too much as far as cpu power out of that machine unless you are using EXS instruments that don't use the filter. Keep away from more than 1 Space Designer, or any of the VI's that can slam the CPU (Sculpture being the main one in Logic Pro).

Good Luck,
