There are 2 basic issues to consider here: First, there's time signatures and then there are the markers. Imagine you have a song with no time signature changes - all in 4/4. You can create markers anywhere you like. They can be on a bar or literally anywhere between. Try this: Open a new song. In your arrange window, click on the Lists button, and then the Marker tab so that you can see a list of all markers. Now create a few markers that start on bars. The list will show that they start on locations like 1 1 1 1 or 7 1 1 1 or 23 1 1 1 etc. I'm assuming you understand that the first number is the bar and the other numbers are subdivisions (depending on what is set for the song). Let's say you have a marker that starts on bar 7 1 1 1 Now, if you insert a 3/4 time signature at bar 6, then there will be only 3 beats in bar 6. The marker won't move absolute position, so it will now start on position 7 2 1 1, which is 4 beats later than the start of bar 6. As you see, changing time signature will alter the relative positions of markers. By the way, I find that the easiest way to insert new time signatures is in the score window. In the Inspector of the score window, click on the little 4/4 button to bring the time signatures to the top of the display. Your basic possibilities are there - 2/4, 3/4, 4/4 and 6/8. Just drag them to anywhere in your score. They can only be dragged to the start of a bar. If you want anything else, drag in the A/B symbol and a window opens where you can input 12/16 or 7/8 or whatever you wish. If you have existing markers, they will obviously need to be re-organised as a result of time changes. Best to insert markers after you have mapped your time changes, if possible. Hope this makes sense... Regards - Colin ------------------------------------ The LUG has a new home on the web, to visit and sign up please go to: http://www.logic-users-group.com/ Yahoo!
