MIDI-driven instrument parameter automation

The parameters for Logic instruments (and plugins) can be assigned to a
keyboard cc and this can be recorded on the automation track. However, I
would like to use a MIDI track to drive the cc automation of a parameter for
an instrument. Eventually I would also like to copy the automation onto its
own MIDI track (to have the modulation data on it s own, not mixed with the
MIDI event data, but I don't want it on th elist view I would like to have
it has a MIDI track)
I had a look at the transformer window but there is nothing that seems to
transform MIDI into cc.
Does any one know ho to do this?
