but i dont use logic or have it installed and get the plop so its embedded in soundiver or the code is to trigger the sound.I think the bottom line is you can 'turn ' off the sound via editing the code ! possibly   - a wonderfull bit of common sense  .........

I've got no idea if this has anything to do with the problem 
described, but here's a repost of something Michael Haydn wrote on 
this list in 2001:

The Plop sound is generated by Logic, not SoundDiver. There is a
workaround to remove that sound:

* downlaod ResEdit from Apple: http://developer. apple.com/ tools/ 
ResEdit213.hqx
* make a backup of the Logic application file
* open the Logic application file with ResEdit or Resourcerer.
* delete SND resource 128
* duplicate SND resource 132 and change its resource number to 128
* save the file and quit

Now the plop sound should be gone
