I think an open source editor/librarian (regardless of whether it's freeware or commercial or somewhere inbetween) would be great - you'd think that, given how many programmers are musicians, this'd've already taken off, but ... anyway if anyone has "ins" into any of the developer communities, I think that would be great if we could find people skilled and passionate.
