Ingo, thanks that gives me something specific to look for.  

I am mostly Windows based so I am running SD3 on XP, but I do have a dusty old G3 MAC and somewhere I have a SD 3.1 beta, perhaps I can find the newer version there.

The hardware specification of the Ensoniq MR is impressive, but trying to get control of it (limited front panel control, limited documentation, and somewhat incomplete OS) requires a fair amount of homework and testing.  

I am, however, pleased at the progress I have been making.
