CDDB: any patent problems?

Hello! I heard that the CDDB protocol is patented by Gracenote, is it possible that this could bring the FreeDB project into trouble? If it is, have you analized the situation? I'd like to suggest adding support for MusicBrainz's protocol to FreeDB as a measure to avoid legal trouble with Gracenote. As a FreeDB user, and maintainer of CDDB-capable software [1], this is an issue that worries me much. Thanks for your attention!
