I have installed a Windows version 2.5 to test and see what I need to adjust
to upgrade from version 2.4.4 to 2.5.
I have a few questions for the brains trust.
1) I am getting a warning "Legacy or unsupported streaming format is used."
I am using Station Playlist encoders, which I believe are based on Oddcast.
This is both AAC & MP3 which are listed as supported. So what do I need to
use to not be "Legacy". There was no problem with 2.4.4
I also see a note "Role legacy-global-source of type static"
2) Possible because of (1) above the web interface pages have blank
Currently playing: and display-title. The server is also not putting the
artist/title into the stream metadata. However the Playlist does show the
track info listed. So it looks like it is getting to the server but no
further.
The server is Windows2012 R2 which is listed as supported.
The audio is fine with no problems.
The online (web) documentation for 2.5 at icecast.org says it is V2.4.1 but
looks to have been amended to add 2.5 tags. The docs installed onto the
server with the install seem to be more up to date. But do not tell me what
<tls>auto_no_plain</tls> means as only talks about putting a 1 in this tag,
so what does auto_no_plain mean? This is what is in the default icecast.xml
There is also the question of <prng-seed type="read-write"
size="1024">C:\Certbot\icecast.prng-seed</prng-seed> (I have amended the
location to one that exists) but what should this file consist of? Does
icecast create it? Because it does not seem to have created it.
I am also seeing that it cannot find report-db.xml
What should this consist of and where should it be?
At present on a Ubuntu Linux 22.04.5 machine I type > apt install Icecast 2
- and get 2.4.4, What would I type to get 2.5 and when will this be
available?
Thanks for any help.
Regards
Tony
