I realise the form factor probably doesn't suit your use case, but the
Yamaha TF series mixers seem to work well as a recording source under Linux. 
Sample rate is fixed at 48 kHz.  32 inputs (plus, I think, from memory, a
selectable stereo bus) are accessible via USB using the standard kernel
snd-usb class compliant driver.  The TF1 (16 pres and faders) and TF3 (24
pres and faders) would require the use of at least one Dante remote stagebox
to get a total of 32 pres.
