It turned out to be a gentoo over ambitions CFLAGS problem. Dont know if
theres a bug in the code (limiter) thats only whown up that way, or the
optimisations were buggy. At least one was marked as experiemntal in gcc
docs from a while back.

The plugin was going into a infinte loop, for() wasn't exiting and I
certainly couldn't see anything in the code that could cause that.
