    Waiting for Steve to modify the gtkmeter stuff.  Since I didn't do
those I'm not sure how he wants to mod them (I'm also not sure I can
figure it out ;-)  The other question that hasn't been answered is, how
large is the RMS sample?  1000, 10000, configurable?
