The have to be clearly distinguished vom each other: - Monitor _gain_ calibration, as proposed by Katz, ties a digital signal level to a physical sound pressure level. The purpose is to force the engineer to create a high dynamic, not-squashed master and to ensure a constant playback level all over the globe. It is neither intended nor suitable for correcting weaknesses of the monitoring situation. - Monitor frequency response/curve/whatever calibration, as discussed in detail in this thread, is intended to compensate a dissatisfying monitoring environment. While this is surely useful, it is not what the K-System (or my original suggestion of a JAMin RMS meter with configurable color levels) is about. :) Regards, Florian
