DSP development is definately a bottleneck, I have a job that currently
takes all my free time, and free software development doesn't pay the
mortgage.

That's fair enough. Paying for something that allready does what you want
is lower risk than paying for something that doesn't yet.

Actually, the 30dB is measured quite agressively, so its reasonable to go
lower, especially as we work in float space.

I think I've suggested lowering the lower limit before, but those that
know more about mastering than me said it wasn't neccesary. You can push
up the input gain, which is equivalent, but that's perhaps not obvious.

It could be a pref, if it's not allready, but that seems a bit like
over-prefing.
