Don't be too hard on yourself, this is software you're talking about :-) 
Some people swear that ProTools mixdown sounds worse than Nuendo...

I think we could safely say that any kind of music creation software (as 
opposed to 'consumption' software) is of little interest to big 
business, otherwise Steinberg wouldn't have to have sold up - and 
they're like the granddads of PC music.

Totally, but users who *demand* that developers spend unpaid time on 
their own personal wishlist are out of order. I see free software as a 
gift to the wider community, and I think sending gifts back and 
expecting something 'better' is just rude...

Yes, I think Jamin is well suited to that task, and most people still 
master from stereo sources as far as I can tell. The problem of dynamic 
range versus average level is not one software can solve; maybe iPods 
will go out of fashion and hi-fi's come back in, who knows? :-)
