Your new .jam file use comma as decimal separator: ----- <global name="ct" value="1,000000"/> <global name="lgain" value="-12,000000"/> <global name="hgain" value="12,000000"/> ----- But the old one use point instead: ----- <global name="ct" value="1.000000"/> <global name="lgain" value="-12.000000"/> <global name="hgain" value="12.000000"/> ----- I replaced point by comma, and it seems ok now. Please, give a try to the "old-fixed-file.jam" in attachment and send us feedback. Thanks for your reply. Well things started as follows: I used Ubuntu 7.10 and Jamin .95 first and it was ok, then Ubuntu 8.04 again with Jamin .95: Here loading of the Ubuntu 7.10 files did only work as user, but root showes the same error as it is now. Then i updated to Ubuntu 8.10 with same Jamin (.95) and now also the user cannot load old files anymore. So i guess this is a thing in libxml.... When i try to load an old file, not a single value is ok, eq values stand at - inf or +inf, other variables take on random values. I attached an old file (that cannot be loaded anymore) and a new one the .95 version creates now. The CVS version does not behave different than the .95 version.
