This could explain something which I noticed some time ago. I stopped
using Jamin's multi-band compressor because it was doing something
strange to the sound that I couldn't quite put my finger on.

I know a lot of recording and mastering engineers won't use FIR filters
for EQing audio because they find that it sounds unnatural due to
pre-ringing. Could that be what's happening here?
