Hi there, Snehal. Great that IBM seems to be putting support for powerpc. If only some help could be offered to vanilla powerpc 32 bit big-endian... I have respun autotools some, say, months ago and I don't know how far that would be from the libtools that you have in mind. My (not-so-current) git mirror of our CVS tree is at: https://github.com/rbrito/lame I can regenerate the files that are needed (if any). I don't have any idea if Robert wants to release a new version of lame in the mean time, though. That being said, I would expect linux distributions (in particular, Debian) to already use new autotools automatically via dh-autoreconf. > I find that lame would require a patch to either config.guess or needs > to pick up the latest automake (1.13.4 or above) version from upstream. > The latest config.guess which has the ppc64le patch incorporated can be > found at : > http://git.savannah.gnu.org/gitweb/?p=config.git;a=blob_plain;f=config.guess;hb=HEAD. Is this still needed given the git tree that I mentioned? Then, that would make my work trivial. (And every other package would also benefit from the new arch). OTOH, I see that we only have 2.4.2-1.3 in Debian's unstable. > Your response is highly appreciated Thanks for your work also. You can, sometimes, see my messages on debian-powerpc and (quite less frequently) on Debian's package multimedia maintainers mailing list.
