The patent numbers don't match those in the list for several entries and the last one I cited is shown as being filed in 2009, not 1996. But the binaural cue coding is not implemented in lame anyway (or is MP3 surround support hidden somewhere?). The more relevant patent is the first one of the two, though, which somewhat reads like „This is the idea of MP3“. On the USPTO page, the filing data is given as March 20 1997, even. Where did August 29 come from? Do you consider this patent to be expired? I presume the surround sound (BCC) stuff has some time left, still, but stereo MP3s are in the clear since April? Can we actually agree on that?
