It assumes GCC or compatible compiler. And what about systems which  
are not x86? IIRC I have -msse in the advanced/experimental  
optimizations in configure.

What we can do is to always enable it for x86 and gcc compatible in  
configure. Or we check in the compiler if it support -msse, and if it  
does we use it.
