Our docs say that you shall use a real decoder and not LAME if you
want to decode MP3s. The main goal of LAME is to encode. The decoder
is just there for the replay-gain computation, and the decoding of
MP3s (to re-encode which is most probably doing more bad to the
quality than encoding from the original anyway) is just an easy
gimmick in this regard. As such I do not think people on HA need to
test the decoder.

Before releasing a new LAME version, I want to get rid of the internal
decoder completely. I have not done that, because the XCode project
files still reference this. So far nobody cared enough to provide
patches, so after some more weeks of silence (except everyone things
that 2 months of silence is enough) I will simply remove the XCode
project files and move on.

Bye,
Alexander.
