I have added generation of API docs (via doxygen) to the tree. Currently 
not installed, only possible to build. This may be a candidate for a 
separate doc install. As long as I haven't made my mind up about that 
part, I do not make changes to that part.

If it is needed, it will shop up as compiler warnings, which I want to 
tackle after some more important stuff.

Already handled in a stronger way than what Debian does. So that patch 
is superflous.
