En réponse à Christian HJ Wiesner <[email protected]>: > But please make SV8 ready to be publically released, at least into alpha > stage and until end of July !! ( its sometimes positive to set a target > date, ask robux4 ;) ) Mmmm, yes and no. If you take matroska we recently progressed at the speed of light because we wanted to have working code available. But that means we modified our coding "rules" to have something work fast. Leaving a lot of undone or unclean things behind. The kind of thing that would not be done otherwise. So for now it's cool, but in the long term it's not clean. (if you don't put \todo in the code like I do). Otherwise for my work on MPC, you know that I really want to be involved in this project. In the other hand there is matroska which is *far* from finished (and might never be finished per se). So I can only spend some time here and there. My interrest, apart from getting all my CDs one day on a HD, is capturing sound with my TV card (that was also my main concern with matroska, only old MPEG would allow me to capture with a slow CPU and drop frames). MP3 or Vorbis is too slow. So I see MPC as the best existing codec for that (lossless takes too much space)... So what I would like to see is capturing in VDubMod into matroska with MPC as the audio codec. Capture in matroska in VDubMod is not implemented yet, so that's what I'm waiting for. From then I will need a library that takes PCM in input and output SV8 frames. And I want to work on this... On the other side, we need a library that takes SV8 frames and output PCM data. I would probably make a simple DirectShow filter based on that. What about Frank ? Well I need a simple documentation about SV8 that could we could discuss about (email ? IRC ?). Don't expect me to discuss "codec" details (I'm not good enough at that), I just need to know the bitstream, what is inside and why (we can discuss on this). http://mpc.corecodec.org
