Hi Stefan,

its me again with some very good news !! There is an INTEGER version of t=
he
MPC decoder, made for ARM processors !! I attach it, its VERY small, and
L-GPL also, made by a Chinese MPC fan in his freetime ! The sources are
only27 KB, compiled its less than 17 KB !

BTW, this poll here would maybe interest some of your marketing guys :
http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?showtopic=3D14414&st=3D0&#entry145=
928[4]
.. it is only several hours old ;-) ...

Here is my word : If you implement MPC decoding, i organize sales of 50
unitsfor you guys. I even pay for them from my own pocket, i could pay th=
e
7500,- €from my bank account if i want to ;-) ....

There is a huge fan community for an opensource audio compression standar=
d
called MPC ( musepack ). MPC is not a competitor of Vorbis, as it is
targetting the fans of music archiving at bitrates >160 kbps, but with
unrivalled sound, very close to using lossless codecs. There is a very fa=
st,
L-GPL decoder library written in plain C, you can find it here :=20
http://www.personal.uni-jena.de/~pfk/MPP/index2.html#decoder-source[10] =
,
size of the complete decoder library is only *130 KB*, compiled binaries =
can
be smaller than *50 KB* :-) !!=20
I also attached the source as a tarball, in case you want to look at it. =
The
MPC decoder sources are L-GPL and free for your use. With a working MPC
support in your units you could attract a few hundred potential users, re=
al
MPC freaks, and there are no other hardware units on the market with MPC
support.=20
*MPC playback requires very very low CPU usage !!!!!*=20
This makes it ideal for integration into your devices. There were some ol=
d
patents used for MPC, namely something called subband transform that was
originally used for the old MP2 audio standard, but as you guys have paid=
to
the MPEG-LA the licensing costs for MP2 anyhow, and nobody in the industr=
y
isreally aware of MPC and that its based on an old MP2 patent, you guys
should be fine in any case. Maybe a good cahnce to sell a few more units,
andwith minimum effort ! And, BTW, we plan to have MPC support in matrosk=
a
sooner or later ;-) ......=20
