I remember there once was an online petition for MPC at some hardware=20
manufacturer ? Was it Rio ? I guess the main problem with these units is=20
that the maximum size of the flash is very limited, so they have to=20
watch pretty carefully what to support and what not. Having different=20
firmware versions for different user profiles is one way to overcome=20
this limitation, but requires more maintenance effort, and thus costs. I=20
dont think the MPC user group, for ROI and the numbers they think in, is=20
big enough to justify the effort.

For the guys we are talking to, well they launch new firmwares almost=20
every month, and they want to differentiate themselves from the cheapo=20
DVD standalones by offering special features no other units do have, and=20
the units cost way more money compared to the production costs.
