Last monday I spent dealing with finances and our schema change announcement. After that I ran off to London to meet up with people and attend various workshops and potential partners. I attended one big data workshop for a London centric project that aims to analyze a large dataset from "I like Music" that aims to release data correlated against MB. I also met with two potential customers and worked out plans for how they can join the MB team. The I attended the British Library "Keeping Tracks" workshop that was focused around sharing the issues the BL faces around digitizing their massive collection of music they have in storage. While MB didn't have a presentation, the BBC's presentation was focused on how they used MB and why someone should use MB -- it was easily the slickest presentation with the most useful content presented by a third party. Incidentally, Decibel (our "competitor") had 3 presentations that felt very much like a sales pitch by were largely devoid of actual content. I'm still not clear on what their business model is and of who their customers are, if they have any.
