My week was mostly schema change work, other than a short break on
Friday. For the schema change, I've: wrote some code to make the schema
change run in fewer transactions -- most notably, all the actual schema
changes now happen in one; this means that things roll back to much more
sensible points, rather than allowing the possibility for a half-done
schema change. I also set up a master database and migrated it, on rika,
as part of the migration testing (found one bug already, and fixed it!).
If others feel like prodding things, the data is at
http://mbsandbox.org/~ianmcorvidae/schema20-testing/ (no fullexport yet,
but the catchup data and a couple packets -- one before the schema
upgrade, one as of now after, probably more to come); the base data dump
to import is the 20140426 data dump. I'll be doing testing with a slave
database (using last schema change's code/data and replicating forward)
and making a fullexport post-schema-change to ensure the data dumped
there also seems correct and imports successfully.
