I spent all my time last week fixing series bugs people have found on my sandbox and making improvements to it. One thing that became apparent through testing is that the ordering attribute property of series is confusing and probably unnecessary, so I removed it from the UI. The schema is unchanged, but the ordering_attribute column for series now always points to the same link_attribute_type (“number”). The original purpose of it was to say “all items in this series have volume numbers/catalog numbers/part numbers/whatever,” but it was difficult to understand and explain why it was necessary. With just a single text attribute, it no longer is.

I’ll likely be busy fixing schema-change stuff for the rest of the week again, but I’m looking forward to working on other things soon.
