GSoc 2015: Finish implementation of SOLR Search

Hello,
I am Ujjwal Wahi, masters student from India. I will be applying for GSoC
project : Finish implementation of SOLR Search this year.

I have decent knowledge of Python, PHP, Java and C#. I had used Lucene.NET
based tool Arachnode.net to extract and list information from govt site,
information is being displayed at [0]. I have experience of developing
couple of b2b portals:[1] and [2]

I have been able to setup musicbrainz server, musicbrainz search server and
Mineo's git repos related to this project locally.

Following is my understanding of project based on the details given on idea
page and interaction with community:

1) There are two crucial features [3], [4] missing from current
implementation without which project cannot replace current search server.
These two features needed to be added .
2) After we implement remaining features, we will deploy it to test server
3) Ultimate goal of this gsoc project will be to deploy solr based search
server replacing current lucene based search server

Before application deadline i.e 27th March, I will try to provide a patch
to an issue in git repos mentioned on Ideas Page, to get better
understanding of code.

Starting from 28th March till start of community bounding period, I will
focus on learning more about solr and will study current search server and
new implementation to prepare a more detailed list of features which will
be required to replace current search server.

I have yet to figure out how much time it will take to implement missing
features, I will prepare my project time line once I figure out that.


It will be great if you guys can point out if I am missing something or how
can I improve my approach.

Really excited to work with you guys. Although, I am new comer in
musicbrainz community but willing to work for long term irrespective of
whether I got selected or not for the project
