audio files outside the webserver?

Hi,
Could someone briefly explain what I would need to do in order for netjuke to read audio files outside of the webserver directory? or do I have to copy every file into the www\netjuke\var\music folder? I'm using Apache and WinXP Pro. Sorry for the newbieness of the question. Thanks for any help!
