If you do need to retag, I'd opt for v2 and it's more flexible. IIRC, there were issues with the M3U files and one or the other of the players if the MP3s had v1 tags. One solution was switching to v2 tags. (I spent a couple of months doing exactly that, all because of NetJuke.
