It is very likely that this limitation is not only in the software, but also
in the firmware of the player and maybe even in the barebone hardware.

This means it is very unlikely that any software can ever provide digital
transfer of music from the player to the computer with todays netmd devices.

You just will have to be more careful reading the advertisement/reviews
before your next purchase (and possibly return the unit you already bought
for a refund).

Sony does not produce the "consumer" model of the mini disc players for
musicians.  It seems they don't care at all about what your needs are
(unless you are willing to pay a lot more for the profi decks, which allow
digital recording).
